E-Commerce Platform

The Challenge

A local business needed an online store to replace its manual ordering process. Customers were calling or visiting to order, and the business had no way to showcase its full catalogue online. The goal was a fast, mobile-friendly store where customers could browse products, view prices, and place orders without a phone call.

The Approach

I considered a WordPress setup with WooCommerce first, but the client wanted a custom feel and faster load times. I chose React.js on the frontend with a REST API backend, which gave a lightweight, app-like browsing experience. The priority was simple navigation, clear product categories, and a checkout flow short enough for a phone screen.

The Solution

The final platform features a product catalogue with search and category filtering, a cart system, and an order form that sends the order details directly to the business. The interface is fully responsive, so customers on phones and tablets get the same smooth experience as desktop users.

The Impact

  • Replaced manual phone-ordering with a self-service store available 24/7
  • Cut ordering time from about 3 minutes to under 1 minute
  • Full mobile experience for the growing number of phone-based customers
